Hi folks,

Could you remember every one in these photos?

Also, if you could spare a few minutes, may I invite you to have a look at some photos I took in Hoi An. It's an amazing city - from its well preserved artefacts and cultural heritage, we can see how the first generations of immigrants (including our ancestors) in VN fared. Struggles of those first generations of immigrants anywhere in the world are inspiring. Walking in the streets of Hoi An, somehow I relived my early years of being a refugee, I also felt I understand our Chinese ancestors a bit more.

It is obvious there were quite a number of Chinese scholars among those early settlers in Hoi An. I saw this "lien" and they stuck in my mind, even though I couldn't take a good photo of them.

貼上了很多鄧鵬展的e mail , 但從來都沒有寫我的感想

其實在我們女生的印象中, 他是個勤奮好學的同學, 數學尤其頂呱呱,沒想到他英文亦寫得一流

當天寄資料去博愛網誌上曾稱讚過他, 將資料搬回自己的Blog沒再提起.

有此一說, 是因他每來email都認為他讀書時開罪了我們女生.

還有另外一位同學何秀娟寫英文亦是情文並茂的, 可惜email 因電腦故障消失了, 不能貼在blog上.

2008年8月24日北京奧運閉幕

京奧終於曲終人散了，正如一名很有見地的大陸網友說的，閉幕式看不到張藝謀的影子，這就成功了！此話說得對極了，事前我的確擔心閉幕式又搬出大紅燈籠高高掛的中國鮮紅，或滿城盡帶黃金甲的宮庭排場，老是要把一個國際體育活動硬變成一部張藝謀商業電影。幸好閉幕沒出現這種狹隘文化思維，張藝謀的金雕玉砌手法消失了（當然幕後掌舵還是老謀子），代之是嘉年華式的節日狂歡，英國紅色巴士出場，搖滾樂演員的自由隨意表演，雖有些凌亂，但不做作，勝在自然，西班牙的多明哥和宋祖英合唱，也體現了東西方的國際組合及友誼。還有記憶之塔的攀登，設計帶有外星科幻及童真趣味，有著未來再創高峰之含意，這才是回歸奧運的世界融合精神。閉幕式的氣勢雖不如開幕，但我看得舒服，因為裡面不再有中國人的老王賣瓜，自讚自誇之民粹訴求，它反映了世界大同的百年理想，值得一讚。劉翔錯過跨欄比賽，下次可再來，不打緊。然而，何時又輪到中國領導人的跨欄比賽登場呢？他們如何帶領中國跨越民主人權改革的障礙，才是世界最精彩的跨欄競賽，而且全世界，全人類都在看！

印象派名畫

龐生美術堂教過的印象派,野獸派 不知有多少人記得? 我也只是約略有些微印象.

來到法國, 很多時候都會去参觀到那些印象派大師作畫地點.

三月時是VAN GOGH 畫 的Auvers 教堂.

八月又來到Paul GauGuin 畫Le Christ jaune ( 黃色基督) 的Tremalo 教堂.

Hi guys:
This certainly is my favorite comment on our Bac AI photos. Some how, I was drawn to the photos of the central staircases.I now remember these are 2 grand staircases that we always ran & hopped up-down everyday. This photo explain where the staircase in my endless dreams came from ( I almost forgot its original source). Thanks Trien for taking this unsentimental, realistic photos of the wooden staircases that were so much part of our daily existence then.After seeing these photos, I could almost see us walking, talking, in our uniforms....right there in my mind.My favorite place is still the "giving" old Bo De tree. I love that tree....still full of life, amazing. Only the orignial woods & tiles (man-made stuffs) are broken in these photos.

今天是我步入孔子所謂五十而知天命的年齡 . 知天命究竞是何解呢 ? 是否就如于丹 (就是那个在大陸央视上因講論语和莊子而走红的于丹)所说 : "“知天命”在我的理解是人生智慧选择后的笑对，是人不去较劲了，就是不去明知不可为而为之....知天命是心里已经不较劲了，一个人的心态决定他的状态，如果你看到一个人状态是局促的、紧张的、抱憾的，他的心中肯定打了个结....知天命比“不惑”更高一个层次，“不惑”是从一种动态中逐渐地稳定下来趋于静态，“知天命”是从静态的死结上发散开来重新获得心灵的自由。....“知天命”应当是一种从容、旷达，无论遇到什么样的事情，你都能坦然地接受下来.... "
相信你们都己步入知天命的年齡 , 又都有大智慧 , 你们的理解又是如何呢 ?請

Recently, I came across an article to share with you my friends.......
on the Journal of Chinese Medicine No. 78 June 2005 by Peter Deadman title
"How to be healthy: Traditional Chinese Health Preservation teachings and modern research":

It said:
"a treasured friendship can replace regret and hatred and heal the old wounds of the mind. Such a friendship can provide sincere help, consolation and encouragement. These can be magic weapons for elimination of grief and anxiety. When your life is free from anxiety and grief, you will find food tasty, sleep restful and recreation enjoyable".

Feeling happy had virtually immediate effects on the immune system. Within 20 minutes of happy thoughts being experienced, the amount of antibody immunoglobulin (SIgA) found in the saliva doubles.



My childhood pals, do you ever wondering why our crudely grilled foods we made at our adventure camping in Bien Hoa tasted so so good?! Even our Bo bia snacks at the food stands were so yummy in those high school years?

Now we know of the secret: not of the culinary technique but of the carefree friendship+SIgA.

-Sleep deprivation can also weaken the immune systems and impair the production of leptin which controls appetite, thus contributing to obesity and diabetes.
-A study of over 1.1 millions men and women age 30-103 in America, those who slept an average of 7 hrs every night had the best survival rate.
-Those who regularly slept >10hrs/night had a 30%-40% higher mortality than did 7 hrs/night people. (Surprise?!)
-Those who slept >8hrs or <4hrs per night had a 15% increase in overal mortality compared to those who slept 7hrs/night. (I guess my 5 hrs. / night habit is definitely not a good way in getting extra /workable hours per day)

Now, when we combine good food and good sleep like Trien did in Bai Ai, that is a good way to healthy aging:

But when I was a student, I couldn't sleep very easily at night. I still remember vividly how I usually got in bed and went through every dish sold in front of our school.....

My dear friends,
Have you ever wondered why some songs simply stick to your mind, no matter how old they are, how rarely you have actually heard of them again, and how silly or childish they are in some cases. According to the latest research by a group of Nobel-prize winning scientists, these songs serve a pivotal role in the homosapiens' surviving instinct and well being. Every now and again, these songs randomly surface in your memory:
(1)To keep you amused for the rest of an otherwise-boring-day, by the simple fact why you suddenly recall that particular melody. This helps to keep your mind active and avoid acquiring Alzheimer's disease.
(2)To confirm the existence of happiness in life by reflashing those moments when you enjoyed these songs with your fellow homosapiens in possibly some warm and fuzzy caves, hence supplying a psychological stimulant much needed for a long day hunting in the jungle.
(3)To remind that you did have common memories with some fellow homosapiens on this planet, thereby providing a sense of reassurance which in turn increases the level of Beullshid hormone to prevent skin cancer.
